Fishing on the Rappahannock River

Fishing on the Rappahannock River
The Rappahannock River with its combination of riffles, runs and glides is a unique small-mouth and redbreast sunfish river. An abundance of fallfish can also be caught along our stretch of the Rappahannock River.

Mountain Run, which also flows into the Rappoahannock River, can afford even the most experienced fisherman an opportunity to hone his or her skills while fishing for small-mouth bass and sunfish in a truly beautiful setting.

During normal water levels most of the river can be easily waded and therefore provides a very enjoyable fishing experience, even for the novice.

The Inn at Kelly’s Ford can provide you with spin fishing equipment. While we encourage catch and release it’s not a requirement. No Fishing License is required on our properties, however is required on the Rappahannock and Mountain Run Rivers. Licenses can be purchased at local Walmart’s or at the Kelly’s Ford Equestrian Center.

Fishing equipment is available $20/day
